Last night I got some interesting texts from some of my favorite people which made me extremely happy and melancholy at the same time. I was planning on writing this post anyway, but the texts jump started it.

The other day I watched "Sex and the City: the Movie" for the first time. I figured I should watch it before the 2nd one comes out. I enjoyed the movie and cried at the end because I was jealous - of the fake people. This happens sometimes when I watch "Friends" episodes too. I so wish I had a group of people like that - those people that know all their is to know about each other and are there for everything. A tight knit unit.

Not that I don't have friends - I do. I have some of the best friends a person could ask for (you know who you are) not to mention family. But we're far apart from each other for one, and with the exception of a small group, we're not all friends with each other. I've got a person here, a person there and while they know about each other and may have met at one time, we're not a cohesive unit and that's what I feel like I'm missing.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my friends for anything, and I'm happy. I just always pictured myself in a group of close people, with game nights, who are all up in each other's business, etc. Who knows, maybe it will happen at some point, but I don't really keep up with anyone before college except through face book, so I'll never have that lifelong friendship. I suppose I could just work on getting all my friends to move here and meet each other. Although they are so different, which is one of the reasons why they are so great, that I don't know if I'd even really want that.

So I guess I'll put my "Friends" fantasy on hold and see how it all plays out. For now I'll just tell my peeps I love them and I'm glad they're my friends.

And by the way, the reason the texts made me sad was because I would have given my left pinkie to be there with them!
Ryan, I completely understand! When I watch "Friends" and especially "How I Met Your Mother," I wish I had that fun group to hang out with every day and night. But then again, I really don't think it's very realistic. So I don't feel like we're missing out that much b/c they are TV shows after all and no one hangs out with the same people every night - that would get so old. But yes, I completely agree with everything you said in your post. And about Friday night - man that was fun. I really wish you and Sarah had been there though. But at least we got to text you! :) Miss ya friend!
